Phuket!

As a reward to ourselves and keeping our promise to ourselves (to go on a nice vacation after each posting), we booked a nice trip to Phuket, just 2 weeks before. This was definitely a last minute trip considering my previous vacations were always booked like months before.

We took the first flight to Phuket- departed 6.55am and arrive at 7.20am. Which means we had a whole day in Phuket for us.

We stayed in Kelly's Hotel, a hotel which was had really good reviews on Tripadvisor. Location wise, it is a little bit far from Patong beach. Walk to the beach took about 10 minutes but one could walk through the air-conditioned Jungceylon. Walking back to the hotel was tougher though cos of the uphill slope, hence we usually took the tuk tuk back (cost about THB 200). The rooms were nice, the owner super friendly and flexible. We arrived early and yet we could easily check in before the "proper" check-in time. Our flight back to KL was at night and he let us keep the room right until 6pm (super-extended check out. hehe). Very different from the usual, "commercialised" hotels.

They also have a really nice pool, although quite small lah. Didn't had time to swim in the pool though.

It was actually raining when we arrived, which was something unusual in Phuket during November. November until December is considered the peak season in Phuket because of the (supposedly) bright and sunny weather.

Jungceylon- a nice big shopping mall. There's a bazaar and food court in the basement, and branded retail shops.

After a nice walk on Patong beach and Jungceylon in the cloudy, rainy weather, we randomly went to a tour agency booth. Our plan was to go into Phuket City for some sightseeing. The usual Phuket City Tour usually includes trip to Wat Chalong temple, cashew nut factory, pearl factory, Promthep Cape, etc etc. But we were only interested in several places and so she suggested we booked a taxi instead to go to 3 places- Karon View Point, Promthep Cape and the Phuket Weekend Market. Cost us THB 1200 for a taxi. Very worth the money, considering the taxi was a new Honda City and there was no time limit.

First stop: Karon View Point- a place to see the 3 beaches (forgot in which order though). Nothing much to do up there though- just to enjoy the cool weather and snap photos.

Second stop: Promthep Cape, which is the southern most tip of Phuket Island. The perfect romantic place to view sunset/sunrise. Unfortunate for us, the weather was still cloudy and the sun was nowhere to be seen. Can only imagine how beautiful it would be if we could see the sunset. Nonetheless, it was still a nice place to visit. We actually hiked down through slippery sandrocks and tall grasses , right to the tip. The so-called hike was definitely worth it.

No sun in sight but still could take some lovely sillhoute shots. This is are my models, with me being a "bossy" photographer. haha.

Last stop: Phuket Weekend Market! Since we were ngam ngam in Phuket on a weekend, we just had to go there. It's a local market where mostly locals go; so it's the place to try local delicacies and find cheap bargains.

So amused with these fried quail eggs. I can't believe we never thought of frying these- it's sooo cute!

Yummy mango pulut dessert... don't know what it's called in Thai though...

Another amusing find- a stall which is a bar. Mojito to-go! Only cost THB 100 for a large cup, and got to see some cool bartending skills.

Next day: Phi Phi Island Tour!
